ELEMENT FOR INCREASING ERA SANDWICH EFFECTIVENESS

Abstract

Sandwich elements of Explosive reactive armours are used for a long time as a protection against shaped charge warheads. This paper presents an element that considerably reduces residual penetration in different attack angles. The paper includes basic research and development as well as numerical simulations. This element, as well as the ERA sandwich, can be made in a fragment-free version to significantly reduce the threat to the surroundings, including the protected vehicle itself, which is also included in this paper.
