ANALYSIS OF RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STATIC AND DYNAMIC ENGRAVING RESISTANCE OF BULLETS
Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between quasi-static and dynamic engraving resistance of bullets. A 12.7 mm solid copper bullet was tested using a custom-designed quasi-static engraving experimental setup, and an interaction model between the bullet and barrel was established. Dynamic engraving resistance was derived by combining dynamic testing with numerical simulations. The results reveal that the peak quasi-static resistance occurs earlier than the dynamic peak, and the number of resistance peaks is independent of the cylindrical structure. The study demonstrates that quasi-static resistance can effectively predict dynamic engraving resistance for solid copper bullets.
