OPTIMUM EPOXY RESIN-BASED COATINGS TO IMPROVE THE PROTECTION OF COMBUSTIBLE CARTRIDGE CASES
Abstract
In this study, an epoxy resin-based coating (ERBC) was synthesized via an optimum coating formula, significantly improving the environmental adaptability of CCCs. Finally, the effects of diluent content on the curing time and the heat resistance of composite coatings were analyzed in detail. It was found that the increase in diluent percentages could effectively promote the fluidity and spraying effect of the coatings, while simultaneously decreasing the overall salt corrosion resistance and hightemperature resistance. It was further determined that the optimized diluent percentage of 7.5 wt% could resist a temperature of 240 °C for 105 s with high environmental adaptability. This study is of significance for future research on the protection and practical application of CCCs, with an expanding scope in the field of weapon ammunition.
